Pre-Move Survey

The pre-move survey allows our Move Consultant to personally meet with you to discuss your requirements and individual needs.

Our Move Consultant will provide you with preliminary information about destination customs requirements, insurance, packing techniques, timing and so on, with later follow-up with more detailed answers for your specific requirements.

Our Quotation

Based on the information gathered during the survey, a detailed budget proposal for your move will be sent to you within a few days. The quotation for the move will include:

• The estimated volume or weight of the shipment
• The total price for the estimated move
• Packing dates, or days required to complete the job
• Unit price (price per 100 lbs. net, kilogram, or cubic meter)
• Insurance premium, if applicable
• What is included and excluded
• Extra charges for special services
• The chosen well-reputed delivery company at destination

Documentation

Complete the documentation before packing begins to ensure vessel and air shipment bookings are timely. Late receipt of these documents can cause dalays to your shipment.

• Copy of your passport (normally only the picture page and personal details)
• Client Questionaire (supplied by Asian Tigers Thailand)
• Insurance policy application and valuation of your goods
• Destination customs forms, if applicable (e.g. Australia, UK, America, Japan)

Packing & Loading

• Each household item is individually wrapped in the correct type of packing material to properly cushion and protect it during the journey.
• We supply the labels to indicate the items that go into storage, by air / sea, or stay in the house.
• Appropriate loading methods such as Liftvan Loading and Loose Load Container.

Special Handling

• Hoisting or stair carry is used when bulky items do not fit the elevators available.
• Your automobile is independently secured inside the container and is given the special attention it deserves.
• Boats need to travel by container with special securing and fastening.
• Pets are handled individually and safeguarded for the journey.

Shipment of your goods

Asian Tigers Thailand’s shipping department will arrange the air or sea shipment of your goods to the destination port of entry nearest to your new residence.

Asian Tigers Thailand chooses reputable carriers to ensure that your shipment arrives as scheduled.

Delivery

Asian Tigers Thailand will provide you with the contact details for our delivery partner in our destination country and the estimated arrival date for your shipment. Upon arrival, you should contact our partner to advise them of your plans and to coordinate the documentation and delivery schedule.

Insurance Arrangement

Whilst Asian Tigers Thailand employ the best packers in the world, insurances should be considered very seriously as there are obvious risks involved with an international household move. We do everything within our power to minimise these risks but our “All-Risk” Moving insurance policy will provide the extra little piece of mind.

Storage

Offering first class storage services for extra household goods, meet the requirements of the various global climates. We provide normal and climate-controlled storage (under 24 hour guard).

Asian Tigers Thailand handles the largest volume of used household and personal effects shipments coming into Thailand each year with care and professionalism.

With unmatched resources at the port and the only moving company to have special Customs status to facilitate faster transit through the clearance process, Asian Tigers Thailand are uniquely placed to provide super smooth deliveries to our shippers.

Normally customs clearance will take 3 – 4 days at the sea ports or 2 -3 days at the airport.

Delivery will be made to residence shortly after release from the port. We provide a full unpacking service and setting up of basic furniture items. We have a free handyman service to hang pictures and hook up washer/dryers. Third party services for specialist items such as pool tables are on hand. We do our very best to assist clients settle in as quickly and as effortlessly as possible.

General Customs Information - Thailand

In order to qualify for duty free status on importing a consignment of used household goods or personal effects certain preconditions must apply. If the qualifications for duty free cannot be met then the shipment can still be cleared with the payment of duty/taxes.

Rules to qualify for duty free approval (foreigners):

• Normally shipper should arrive in Thailand with a 90 day Non Immigrant B visa which will then be processed by the Immigration dept (this visa in itself is not enough to qualify for duty free). Shippers who will not be working in Thailand e.g. retirees will not normally qualify for duty free and should contact our office for further help.
• At time of shipment clearance shipper needs to have a one year visa or one year work permit (no conditions) issued by the Immigration Dept in Thailand
• In addition goods must arrive in Thailand no later than 6 months after the shipper first arrived with the non immigrant visa and must come from the country where the shipper last worked & resided
• Only one sea shipment and one air shipment will be granted duty free status noting that only one of each type of electrical items qualifies ( i.e. 1 TV, 1 HiFi, etc). All goods must be used, not new.

Problem areas

• Cars & Motorbikes need import permits issued (and are very difficult to obtain). Vehicles should not be sent until shipper can confirm they have obtained an import license. They are also subject to high duty (no duty free) of 94.38% for motorbikes and 213% to 309% for cars. They should not be included in the household goods shipment.
• Food, Wine & Liquor need import permits issued. These items should not be sent until shipper can confirm they have obtained an import license. They are also subject to high duty (no duty free) of 182% - 343% for wines for example. These items should not be included in the household goods shipment.

Prohibited items are guns, ammunition, pornography, short wave radios.

Rules to qualify for duty free approval (returning Thai nationals):

• In order to qualify for a duty free clearance returning Thai nationals must have lived outside the country for at least 12 months prior to their arrival back in Thailand
• The shipment must come from the country where they last worked / resided and arrive in Thailand within 6 months of shipper’s return
• Only one sea shipment and one air shipment will be granted duty free status noting that only one of each type of electrical items qualifies ( ie 1 TV,1 HiFi, etc). All goods must be used, not new.

Pre Move

Asian Tigers Thailand will first survey and estimate the size of the move and the time it will require to make move. We will deliver a small amount of packing material to the customer's house before moving date start, in case any items are preferred to be packed by the owner.

Actual Move

Asian Tigers Thailand will send the supervisor, packers and vehicles on the packing date. They will pack, mark and label all the articles to be moved.

Packing Method

A. Furniture items.

Wrapped with polythene wrap and covered with protective wool blankets.

B. Crystal, Glass, Chinaware and Kitchen ware.

Individually wrapped with tissue paper and packing paper, packed into plastic crate.

C. Linens. Bedding and Cushions.

Placed into plastic 'Linen Bags'

D. Hanging Clothing.

Placed on rail in 'Standing Hanging Wardrobes' cartons.

Then we will load into our own vehicle and transport to the new residence, unpack and set up your goods. We will clear away any packing material on the final day.

Handyman service is available, by arrangement, after the move, to help you re- hang pictures & mirrors.

Pre Move

Asian Tigers Thailand will survey and estimate the size of the move and the time it will require to make the move. Asian Tigers Thailand and customer must check with both buildings to be sure that service elevators are available to us all days of the move, and that parking space is allotted for sole use of Asian Tigers trucks. By making the move over and weekend, this will reduce substantially any congestion to be encountered & ‘down time’ for your operations. Asian Tigers will provide specifically designed ‘office move cartons’ and provide labels for the staff to pre pack their belongings. We will pack computers and office equipment.

Actual Move

Asian Tigers crew will prepare protection of floors, staircases and through access areas, in order to protect against damage to the old building and new office. Then we will separate our crew to start packing computer, office items, and moving the cartons. We will transport everything to the new building for unpacking and setting up.

Insurance

Insurance for the domestic move is an important consideration for any move, & we can provide a comprehensive policy specifically for local moves for your protection. As a professional moving company using experienced staff for all stages of moving, we do what we can to ensure an ‘uneventful’ move - however, as unlikely as it may seem, vehicle accidents & other accidents can happen. Adequate insurance coverage for your goods is recommended.
